The last years several kinds of applications for digital scrapping is now available in the stores. You should use a lots of programs for this specific purpose. The thing that overwhelmed me a little bit when I opened this software was the menus. There is one sidebar on both sides of the workspace and an icon bar above it. And at the first glance, they appear doing precisely the same. You can add images and elements by all 3 of them. Although the left sidebar is a bit more similar to a browser, while the control panel sidebar on the right side will let you customize every little thing. Like shadows, inserting music, compose videos etc. The left sidebar is perfect for browsing your images.
With My Memories Suite you may pretty much be as artistic as you desire. You can create each page like it was a piece of art, add lots of embellishments and nice titles. But you may also use the automated functions of the software. You can pick a ready made album, and then use the autofill feature to add your images. Even if you use autofill you can go back and edit each page till you are pleased with them. Everybody knows how irritating it is to get a photobook back from a printer with spelling mistakes. My Memories Suite has a spell checker function, maybe one of the most useful functions about the software.
Occasionally I am a little narrow minded. I recall reading a review of another scrapbook software in Macworld not long ago. And the one who wrote this review listed advantages and disadvantages, and one of the cons was that he couldn’t add music to the pages. And I thought….hellooo….we make scrapbooks, we don’t expect to listen to Holiday with Scorpions once we open our vacation scrapbook.
The possibility to add music and video can obviously not be add to a printed book of paper, but what My Memories Suite can do for you is create a dvd that includes music tracks and video snippets. I actually think this is a really cool thing. Instead of sending your scrapbook around the table when you have a family gathering, you could put the dvd in your player and flip through a virtual book on your tv for everyone to see at the same time.
