Adding texture to your scrapbooking pages by Sarah Dohrman
There are many ways to add texture to your scrapbooking pages. Texture will add depth, warmth and dimension to your scrapbooking page. Texture on a page will make the viewer want to reach out, touch and run their fingers over each item to feel the different textures.
Adding texture is easy. You just need to be willing to experiment a little to find what works best. I love to use lots of different materials and I love experimenting with them.
Some materials and items to use to add texture are: Dimensional magic, Metal, Clay, Embossing, Bubble wrap, Shells, Bark, Textured paper, Paint, Fabric, Ribbon, Crumpled paper, Lace, Vellum, Chipboard, Felt, Wooden accents, Mesh, Brads, Eyelets, Texture paste, Buttons, Cork, Stitching, Beads, Paper and material flowers and Chalking or inking the edges of photos or paper
Extra tips and hints about texture:
Layering different types and textures of paper on the one page
will also add great depth to a scrapbooking page.
Textured pages don’t have to be busy and cluttered. A simple
embellishment, a photo and some beautiful embossed paper can be
enough to create a textured effect
Hugely contrasting papers give the illusion of some amazing
textured backgrounds.
Using netting over background card stock creates subtle texture.
Fine netting can also be used to tone down brightly coloured
papers.
If you want to crumble paper, the best way to do it is to wet the
paper slightly first and then crumbling it into a ball. Then
flatten it and iron it if you want. You can also sand it lightly
with sand paper so the white of the paper begins to show
These are just of few suggestions for adding texture to your scrapbooking pages. Make sure you now go out and experiment. Remember to have fun.
