Many of us want to try computer scrapbooking, but think programs such as Adobe photoshop or Adobe photoshop elements to hard to find out. A lot of these programs are generally usually pretty costly. After I opened the application the first time, I became just a little bit confused. However I really made the 1st layout in an hour with no need to go through the guide book. My Memories Suite is actually so simple to use.
When you first open the My Memories Suite, you’ll see a left and a right sidebar and the work area between the two. And additionally there is a tool bar at the top. At the first glanze they seem quite similar, but they certainly have different possibilities. You use the left sidebar to browse your photos and to access the online store to buy new kits. The right sidebar is the control panel. Although you may can add both photos and elements from both sidebars, the right one is where you may add effects such as shadows, bevels and even music!
With My Memories Suite you may basically be as creative as you wish. You can create each page like it was a piece of art, add lots of embellishments and fancy titles. But you can even use the automated functions of the software. You can pick a ready made album, and then use the autofill function to add your pictures. Even if you use autofill you can go back and modify each page until you’re happy with them. Everybody knows how annoying it is to get a photobook back from a printer with spelling mistakes. My Memories Suite has a dictionary with spell checker function, maybe one of the most useful functions about the software.
Occasionally I’m a little narrow minded. I recall reading an overview of another scrapbook software in Macworld not long ago. And the person who wrote this review listed advantages and disadvantages, and one of the negatives was that he couldn’t add music to the pages. And I thought….hellooo….we make scrapbooks, we don’t expect to hear Holiday with Scorpions when we open our vacation scrapbook.
I think the idea of adding music and video to a virtual scrapbook is an excellent idea. When you have family and friends visiting, you will not have to send your printed scrapbook around the table. Instead you can put a dvd in your player and you can all see the virtual scrapbook on your tv. Have you decided to buy the program yet?
