Heart Disease Treatment Widely Sought in Costa Rica
Costa Rica is now a mecca for adult Women with heart Problems.
Though 73 p.c of ladies know how to forestall heart disease, many are oblivious of how to treat it once a diagnosis has been made.
In a survey of 1,979 ladies over age 35, only 55 p.c said they understand how to handle heart disease. Respondents often wrongly named prevention techniques like exercise and eating healthily as treatment choices, and less than 10 p.c named tangible treatments like Angioplasty in Costa rica and stent placement.
Hispanics and African-Americans, both considered high-risk groups for heart disease, were two times as likely as Caucasian girls to say they did not know any treatments in any way.
The survey was conducted by the”Healthy From deep Inside” campaign subsidized by the Nation’s Women’s Health Resource Center and Cordis Corp. The campaign inspires ladies to study treatment options for coronary artery illness, the commonest type of coronary disease, so they can make better decisions if diagnosed.
“The good news is simply that ladies know that they are in jeopardy for coronary disease. This helps keep plaque from reforming and helps prevent repeat blockage from happening within the artery.
Coronary bypass surgery is another treatment option. While more invasive, it’s a effective and safe treatment for patients who may not qualify for angioplasty and stent insertion.
